Split and Zadar

We headed out of Dubrovnik today after an interesting night. We had a wind storm last night. Tents collapsed and even though Brenton and I did a careful job with the tent, stakes were pulled up and we almost lost our rain fly. The ground was super hard to get stakes into in the first place because the ground was all rock so that made things more difficult.
There was a lot of travel today as we make our way to Budapest. We crossed the border to Bosnia and Herzegovinia to cut travel off of our day. We were in the country for maybe an hour and we had a stop at a rest stop before going back into Croatia. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get any money from Bosnia.
Our first real stop of the day was in Split, Croatia. It's a port city and the water around is ridiculously beautiful. All of the water in Croatia was pristine that I saw and I'm so glad that I came to this country. The port of Split is very large and a lot of Croatian island cruises are launched from this point.
Diocletian's Palace is dominates the entire town pretty much. It was originally the retirement home of a former Roman emperor but now the palace is the city center. Many of the buildings are still in use and government officials still sometimes reside in them.

Brenton, Anita (another friend from Contiki), and I went to the Cathedral of Saint Domnius. We went into the cathedral and treasury, both of which didn't allow photos. They were pretty though. We also went to the crypts and the bell tower. Walking to the top of the bell tower was a bit of a trek but the views were pretty awesome.

We also visited the Temple of Jupiter. Here are the pictures from the temple.
After that we went and got lunch. The three of us split a pizza and had some beers and just relaxed near the water. We got back on the bus after Split and headed over to Zadar where our campsite is in Paklencia National Park. Our camp is near the water and I got a couple photos of the sunset over the water.

Tomorrow, we will head over to Hungary and to Budapest. Our bus driver is from Hungary and the city should be super exciting to see. We have two nights there so it should be enough to see everything. That does it for Croatia, tomorrow we will cross the border.
